Angeline Ann Samuel is a software engineer turned entrepreneur and an experienced specialist in digital marketing as well as professional development. She has in depth knowledge in areas such as search engine optimisation (SEO), Google Adwords, analytics, social media management and marketing.

She currently heads A Tech International, a digital marketing firm in Malaysia. Her everyday role entails strategic planning, managing and leading teams in diverse roles. This includes sales, operations management, digital marketing, market expansion strategies, business development, market intelligence and budget control.

Dato’ Dr Ir Haji Mohd Abdul Karim Bin Abdullah

Dato’ Dr Ir Haji Mohd Abdul Karim is a mechanical engineer turned entrepreneur who founded Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd (SDHB) in 1993. He currently serves as group chief executive officer of Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd (SDHB) which was listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia in 2017.

Dato’ Karim has had an extensive career spanning 29 years as an engineer serving PETRONAS group of companies. He gained vast experience in the maintenance and installation of rotating equipment with hands-on experience in overhauling steam and gas turbines, centrifugal pumps and compressors, and machinery installation. His specialisation in turbomachinery was instrumental in bringing Serba Dinamik as the vendor for rotating equipment service provider under the PETRONAS vendor development programme.

He’s a member of engineering institutions and boards, and also chairman of Vibration Committee with Institute Materials Malaysia (IMM). He has also won many awards including The BIZZ Award, 2018.

He holds a PhD in industrial engineering from the InterAmerican University, United States. In 2012, he was conferred a Doctorate of Philosophy in entrepreneurship from the Golden State University, United States.

Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM) Malaysia

Baharuddin Muslim is attached to the Communications & Stakeholder Management Department. He started his career as a marketing officer with Bangkok Bank Ltd and then joined the United Malayan Banking Corporation Berhad (UMBC) as head of credit and subsequently Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank).

He later assumed various positions at EXIM Bank structuring trade facilities for Malaysian SMEs, contract financing for Malaysian contractors undertaking overseas jobs and funding Malaysian companies investing abroad.

In 2009, he joined the Middle East Investment Bank Ltd as its general manager before returning to EXIM Bank. Today, he regularly shares his experience in financing trade and cross border investments at public forums and conferences.

He holds a BSc in business administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, United States.

Goh Ai Yat is a former senior banker and the managing consultant of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) Group of consulting companies.

Ai Yat regularly conducts entrepreneurial and development programmes. She trains organisational employees to adopt entrepreneurial thinking in preparation for increasingly competitive business landscapes and individuals who are aspiring entrepreneurs.

She is recognised as the first and only principal trainer in Asia for The Back of the Napkin™ – Solving Problems with Pictures.Ai Yat conducts and develops programmes for multi-national companies, government agencies, as well as educational and financial institutions in Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Macau, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Sharmini Hensen is a social entrepreneur who founded the Sistas Network in 2006, a growing coaching support work group for women. She’s also founder and CEO of LifeWorks Sdn Bhd, which specializes in organizing and conducting training programmes and workshops for entrepreneurs. She also founded the first community café, Café in Kuala Lumpur, where she coaches and trains individuals from underprivileged and less educated backgrounds to run a café successfully. Since 2012, she has lead the initiative to coach and transform lives of underprivilaged women who receive welfare across the country through MyKasih Foundation to be financially independent and emotionally liberated to create the life they desire.

She brings with her more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing spanning across a wide spectrum of industries from real estate to high end consumer products. She passionately empowers individuals to look for solutions with themselves and moving them into action and ultimately, achieving success and happiness. Her take is when your relationships work, your life works as she believes true success and happiness lay in the quality of our relationships, business, personal and most importantly, with one’s self. Her interest in the power of the mind led her to practice meditation, Kriya Yoga and Reiki to bring a holistic approach to her coaching.

3rd WBN Women Entrepreneur Workshop

The 9-day workshop consisted of lectures on the workshop module, special talks by invited guest speakers, study excursions to industrial sites and operating businesses and a group business plan project that gets all participants into small working groups to produce feasible business plans on any given business idea. At the end of the workshop, the participants were given certificates of completion, and the winners of the business plan project were awarded with special gifts by Tun Musa Hitam, Chairman of WIEF Foundation.

The 2nd WBN Women Entrepreneurs Workshop was held on 17-25th January 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Four prominent organisations namely SME Corps, NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women (NIEW) Malaysia, Department of Women’s Development under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development Malaysia and the WIEF Foundation collaborated to organise this workshop.A special practical module was designed for the workshop with a variation of themes. The module was presented in the form of lectures by lecturers from the academic world and by those with experience in the private and institutional sectors. In addition, participants gained extra benefit from special talks by guest speakers consisting of industry practitioners and successful entrepreneurs.
31 participants from all over the world participated in this workshop and they are from Iran, Indonesia, Cambodia, Comoros, Morocco, Jordan, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Canada, Uganda, Sudan, Myanmar, Kuwait and Malaysia. The diverse participation enabled them to exchange ideas and professional experiences, and also learn new skills.
1st WBN Women Entrepreneur Workshop

The Workshop was organised jointly by the WIEF Businesswomen Network (WBN) and the WIEF- UiTM International Centre. The Workshop received overwhelming applications from women entrepreneur across the world. The 10-day Workshop was attended by 28 participants from 13 countries (Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Morocco, Vietnam, Kuwait, New Zealand, Iran, Sudan, Philippines, Yemen, Comoros and Malaysia)
The workshop, a 2-week entrepreneurial course was specially designed to empower women entrepreneurs with skills necessary for them to compete in the global marketplace. At the end of the course, participants gained extensive knowledge on crucial leadership skills, hands-on experience in business management, and a new circle of contacts with fellow women entrepreneurs.The workshop aimed to educate entrepreneurs through a series of lectures and special talks by guest speakers who are industry practitioners and successful entrepreneurs, group roundtable discussions, e-business sessions, a ‘Bring Your Own Case’ experiential workgroup and industrial study excursions to various local businesses in the country.
